Account sign up

We applied the material design framework to our account sign up, which allowed us to present our features in a more friendly, elegant and clear manner. We used our brand colours to draw the attention to key elements in the imagery, and applied curved motion to seemlessly glide between screens. We tested on our users and tweaked the smallest of details including the button style and position, different strings, and the colour of the text.

SwiftKey Hub

This was the first part of our material design overhaul. Prior to the Hub, SwiftKey had a mechanism to customize the app within the keyboard itself, in addition to via the app settings. We previously called this the “Quick Settings”, which provided access to themes, keyboard undocking, a resizing facility, a variety of keyboard layout options, and a link to the container application. Since the introduction of the Hub, engagement with customization features has risen by 53%.

Material Design overhaul

We had similar goals for the container app that we did for the Quick Settings redesign: make it easier for users to discover useful SwiftKey features and customize their typing experience — and make it look great, too.
